Person-centred Care Planning
Care-giving and record-keeping the person-centred way
Usually the term person-centred care is linked with the care of people with dementia, but the concept is applicable to all people needing care, even if the main aspects of care are physical. This is because we all have a psychological aspect to our needs and this approach addresses these needs. Also it is estimated that approximately 62% of residents living in care homes in the UK have a degree of dementia (Matthews and Denning 2002).

The course will be suitable for managers, deputy managers, proprietors, nurses and care staff from care homes for older people. This course will also be valuable and appropriate to professionals and specialist advisors who work with staff and people who live in care homes, for example, Social Workers, CPNs and Community Nurses.
Who will be speaking on the course?
David Sheard, from Dementia Care Matters will be co-facilitating with Cathy Butterworth RN, who has more than 25 years experience with care homes either working in or supporting staff and as an inspector.
